Our Signature Moments

Endoscopic management of tracheal stenosis with stent placement

A 11 year old child presented to our department with h/o RTA causing head injury and fracture of the left femur for which the child was tracheostamized and successfully decannulated eventually. However, the child developed biphasic stridor and breathlessness upon mild exertion shortly thereafter, CT and bronchocopic examination revealed narrowing of the mid-trachea wall with fibrostenosis. We intubated the child with a rigid scope and used minimal electrocautery cuts, followed by balloon dilatation and cryoablation therapy. After dilating the stenotic segment to the desired extent, Triamcinolone acetonide was injected locally and a silicone stent was deployed.

Foreign body(Pearl) retrieval with
a Bronchoscope

A 1 year old child presented to our department with h/o couphing and choking after an accidental ingestion of a pearl. On examination there was decreased air entry over the left lung fields and chest X-ray showed bilateral hyperinflation involving left lung more than the right. Soon the child was taken up for foreign body retrieval under laryngeal mask airway using a flexible bronchoscopy and size 5 fogart balloon.
